I ruined four pairs of jeans on my kitchen floor before one held. -Kate Sundera

I started Sundera in my second year of art school because I was sick of denim that only looked good in the photo. Everything in shops was safe, stretchy, and made by a machine that had never met a person. So I taught myself to sew lace into denim. Badly, at first. I ruined four pairs on my kitchen floor before the first one held. Every pair we ship is still cut and finished by hand in a tiny studio — which is exactly why there are only a handful of each colourway. If you buy a pair, you own something almost nobody else has. That's the whole point.

How a pair happens

01

The denim is sourced

Heavy vintage-weight denim, washed down until it moves like something you already own.

02

The lace is cut by hand

Every panel is traced and cut by hand, so no two pairs land exactly the same.

03

Stitched, one pair at a time

The lace is set into the flare and stitched in — slow, and the reason the run is small.

04

Then we stop at 35

When the run is gone it is gone. No restock, no second wave, no reprint.

"the lace disappears until the light catches it. genuinely the best detail on any jeans i own."

Sienna's review photo

"quality is insane. the flare with the sheer panels at the bottom completely elevates the whole look."

Ana's review photo

"bought these the second they dropped and i'd have paid double honestly."
